Dr. Janda’s approach served as the cornerstone of rehabilitation in the Czech Republic and Europe. While musculoskeletal rehabilitation benefited most from his philosophies, elite athletes can benefit from his approach as well. Muscle balance is important for any athlete to ensure top performance, while muscle imbalances can lead to injury and dampened performance. Triathletes are quite vulnerable to injury because of the repetitive nature of the events and the shear amount of physical activity required. Mark Deterline posted a great article on how triathletes can benefit from Janda’s approach to muscle balance in his article, Body Balancing: The Janda Approach to Muscle Function, which was published on the Triathlete-Europe website.
